Managing fatigue presents a unique set of challenges, particularly when it comes to accurately tracking the data from individuals signing in and out. While initial planning may paint a rosy picture, the reality is that once actual times are entered into the system, they can dramatically shift an individual’s fatigue and risk score. Recognising this, we realised we needed a robust solution to manage these actuals around the clock, allowing the system to work for us.
To tackle this, we partnered with Macrail to oversee our site access controllers, who play a crucial role in feeding real-time data directly into our fatigue management system. However, upon examining the costs, it became evident that staffing site access controllers at three locations 24/7 would be prohibitively expensive. In light of this, we innovated a modern solution that leverages cutting-edge technology and facial recognition software. This advancement enables us to deploy cameras at all our strategic compounds, facilitating two-way communications with a dedicated duty site access controller, available around the clock to address any issues that may arise. This proactive approach not only ensures that our workforce is effectively managed on-site, but it also enhances our ability to mitigate fatigue and reduce risk, reinforcing our commitment to safety and well-being.
